HP Unveils Latest iPaqs Including h6315 Smartphone PDA Hybrid
The h6315 looks to be a fantastic Pocket PC, fantastic phone, and a decent camera, MP3 player, and portable gaming device. As far as I can see, the only drawback is that the goddamned thing is HUGE. I'm sure the price will be fairly exhorbitant as well (I'm anticipating about $600), but I'm fairly surprised that the phone doesn't have a VGA screen (the camera is VGA). Quite frankly, if I'm going to be getting a Pocket PC/Phone hybrid without a VGA screen, I want it to be small enough to drop in a pocket, like the ASUS P505.
But the real trick is that the phone can jump from GSM/GPRS to WiFi seamlessly. High-speed internet while at home or work, or anyplace there's a WiFi network, and reasonable access to the web and e-mail anywhere you can get a cellular signal. That's sexy.
Update: Apparently, the h6315 will be available from T-Mobile in August, with a price tag of $499 ($100 cheaper than I had surmised). No details yet on whether that is a subsidized price or not. I'm only about 8 months into my T-Mobile contract, but maybe I could get a deal ...
