Verizon's Million Points already gone?

I checked the Verizon site at 6AM this morning to get my free 500 points, and it was already over. How could Verizon have given away 1,000,000 Microsoft Points so quickly? Easy ... East Cost combined with the mathematical reality that only 2000 people would be getting the points (the million points were given away in 500 point increments) and you end up with a promotion that sounds much more impressive than it really is.

Well, actually, it's still impressive. 500 Microsoft Points is equivalent to $6.25 in cash, which means that Verizon gave away $12,500 pretty much in the blink of an eye.
