XBox 360 only $150 in Japan! Prices slashed after only 4 days!
There is no positive way to spin this one. The US can't get machines, and retailers in Japan are cutting the price by more than 50% because they can't move the damned things.
Ouch.

well there is a positive way to spin the story. Its called reading it.
"The originally 38,800yen (about $350 US) consoles have been lowered to 18,800yen (about $150 US) with Internet Service Provider contracts so that the shop could get some kickback money from the IP"
One of the comments on the digg story even expand on that slightly:
"As it turns out, retailers are not so desperate to move Xbox 360 units as to cut the price by more than half, but rather, @TCOM (Internet provider) is using an Xbox 360 bundle to attract potential customers to their online service. It’s a common practice throughout the Japanese gaming market."
But they wouldn't be offering the option if they could get the cash up front.
