Slashdot | Sony Warned Weeks Ahead of Rootkit Flap

The big story going around today isn't whether or not Sony BMG knew about the rootkit that has been installed with the DRM on their CDs ... it's how early they knew. According to this story, Sony BMG had roughly a four week lead on notification.

I call shenanigans. Sony knew well ahead of F-Secure telling them. Sony BMG paid to have the DRM implemented by First4Internet ... and I have a hard time believing that F4I would have included something so invasive without someone at Sony BMG signing off on it. Sony BMG knew all along. And now they're getting exactly what they deserve.
