Report: iMovie strips FairPlay DRM from iTunes songs | MacNN News

A new wrinkle in Apple's fight against the opening of the iPod and their FairPlay DRM scheme. Apple recently won an injunction against the PlayFair software that strips the DRM from iTunes music files. In what's possibly going to be a major setback on appeal, it's been found that Apple's own iMovie software can accomplish the same task. I'm sure Apple will be "fixing" iMovie soon by removing that feature, but it's possible that this may set precedent for circumventing FairPlay legally. But then again, I'm not a lawyer.
