InfoWorld: Tech groups fight copyright infringement bill: July 22, 2004

I just want to go on record as saying that Orrin Hatch is a world-class cork-soaker. When is someone going to stand up for the little guy, the ones that can't afford to fight the system to keep their own rights intact. Fair Use is there for a reason, and file-sharing networks have major LEGITIMATE uses. Many gaming websites (like GameSpot) use some form of file sharing to reduce the load (and therefore, the cost) on their own systems by letting their viewers share the content. It's importantly technology, and we can't allow some Congressional Clownboats to railroad over something that they DON'T UNDERSTAND! P2P does NOT equate to PIRACY. But this over-reaching legistation doesn't distinguish between any legitimate uses.
