Our Nation Divided
John Kerry has reportedly conceded the 2004 election to President Bush, but making that phone call, Kerry told Bush that this election has shown that our nation is clearly divided (Bush agreed), and they must work together to resolve it.
The question now is ... will he? A second term takes the leash off, and Bush's conservative platform was clearly a winning strategy. Holding the House and the Senate means that pretty much anything Bush chooses to do will pass. A second term is the true measure of a President, and I think we're all about to find out what Bush's agenda really is. Will he truly work to reunite our nation, or will it be four more years of keeping our nation afraid?
There was very little about this election that has truly surprised me, save for one. John Kerry won New York, site of the terrorist attacks on September 11. Considering that Bush's platform was "all terror, all the time", what message does that send to our President?

I am a New Yorker, and my vote against George Bush says that I will never forgive him for allowing Bin Laden to go free. That I hold Bush responsible for the continual intelligence failures - including the one that became obvious last Friday when Bin Laden addressed America (do YOU believe that Bin Laden has spent the last 3 years hiding in caves, 1 step ahead of our special forces, dialysis machine and all? The man looked like he's been at a spa for God's sake!)That George Bush has in fact aided and abetted terrorism by not securing the explosives in Iraq, allowing more than a dozen of Saddam's pre 1991 nuclear facilites, formerly monitored by the IAEA,to DISAPPEAR over the last year or so, by needlessly stretching our military so thin in Iraq that people are being forced to serve after their committments have been completed.... The list goes on and on. George Bush is a total fake, from his pseudo-christianity to his alleged toughness on terrorism.
New York voting Kerry should not be a shock. New York is a Blue State... that simple. Do not let 9/11 cloud your judgement. It would not matter if Ghostbusters II happened in New York City and it could be completely attributed to Democrats... they would still vote Democrat. In New York, Republicans are so by name only. Rudi Gulliani is more like a moderate Democrat than a Republican... is it similar to my state, Indiana, where our Democrats are merely moderate Republicans.
