2008
So now the speculation begins. With Bush unable to run for a third term, the analysts say that TODAY, the race for the 2008 election begins. Howard Dean, John Edwards, and Hillary Clinton are expected to make a showing on the Democratic side. Rudy Giuliani, Bill Frist, and John McCain on the Republican side.
I think that a Clinton - McCain battle would be another incredibly close race, one that I would again have a difficult time with. I still think that John McCain and his incredible common sense would do a great deal of good for our country, and one of the main reasons that I am not overly upset that President Bush has been re-elected is that in four years, he can shift some of that momentum to McCain, should McCain choose to run.
At the same time Hillary Clinton is making a strong showing and gaining a great deal of respect in the Senate, and people are expecting that out of anyone, that she could be our first female President ever. That bodes well for Washington State, where both of our Senators are women, and our next governor may be a woman as well (if the incredibly tough race between Gregoire and Rossi ever settles out; Rossi currently holds a 1000 vote lead).
