Google Desktop Search

It seems like I'm always singing the praises of Google in here. If they'd just stop making such incredibly cool stuff, it would be a lot easier to hate them like people seem to want to lately.

Anyway, Google's Desktop Search brings about technology that Longhorn was supposed to be delivering (as I mention over at Scoble's place), albeit a bit less full-featured. Basically, it searches through the data on your computer and gives you the results, just like Google does for the web.

Why is this cool? When was the last time that you couldn't remember the file name of something you saved, or even where you saved it? All you need to know now is what was in it, and Google can find it for you. Very, very slick.

Apple's doing this with OS X v 10.4 "Tiger." It's called Spotlight on the platform. It's pretty fucking slick.
