How The Xbox 360 Is Affecting Video Game Sales | Playfeed
My brethren over at PlayFeed have taken notice of an article by Todd Bishop of the Seattle PI, detailing the Xbox 360's impact on industry sales data. It's a very interesting analysis, although if you need to list that many disclaimers about the source of your data, it should serve as a huge red flag. That said, Todd has done an admirable job with the data he did have access to.
When I used to write for Planet GameCube, I had to constantly remind people of one major problem with sales data that would always place Nintendo in the bottom of the charts: WalMart does not make their sales data public, and WalMart is the Number 1 retailer for video games. That's a MASSIVE hole in anyone's data set.
As such, while I still recommend checking out the conclusion Todd reaches, take the results with a heavy dose of sodium chloride, and go back to playing your favorite console, since that's all that should really matter to you.
