Another Wii mystery port spotted - Joystiq
This story has been making the rounds since the weekend. Pay it no mind. Nintendo has had expansion ports in every console they've ever made. This is clearly NOT a memory card slot, since there would be nothing under it to hold the memory card in place. This is likely a port that could be used with some special add-on, possibly replacing the stand. Sure enough, the referring site just posted a schematic confirming that this "port" is nothing more than an expansion slot that may go unused.
The only reason why people are eating this stuff up is because of Nintendo's secretive nature, so much so that even the smallest anomaly gets blown out of proportion.
