PS3: You're Buying the Future - Gizmodo

Well, this settles it. Clearly whatever Kutaragi-san is smoking is making its way around the rest of the Sony gang, because the ridiculous quotes just keep on coming.

At one point, Sony was defending the exhorbitant price of the PS3 as being reasonable. Now, somewhat of an about-face:

The price of the PS3 is high, but you’re paying for potential.

Obviously, it’s a higher-risk strategy—as all new inventions are—but if the PS3 lives up to its total potential, then I don’t think anyone will be worried about Nintendo or Xbox’s cheaper price.

OK, so now you admit that we're paying for something that isn't even coming in the box. Potential. And if you screw us, do we get a refund? Is there a rebate if we feel that you didn't live up to your potential?

Here's the best part; Stringer's right. It is a higher-risk strategy, but it's mostly higher-risk for the CONSUMER.
