Xbox 360 Uber-Post at Kotaku
Updated with more info!
People are starting to go insane about the Xbox 360. For the severely Type-A like myself, Kotaku's recent roundup of links to help people navigate Best Buy during the Xbox 360 launch is incredibly helpful.
I'm limiting myself (regardless of what the sales drones at Best Buy try to convince me of) to the Pro system, the Play & Charge kit, and a single game (probably Project Gotham Racing 3). I'll let my assorted family members decide what else to get me. I won't have much time to play it until after the holidays anyway. Besides, if I got anything else, my wife would probably have me killed.
Still trying to figure out which Best Buy to go to? What's going to be available? I decided to put together my own Uber-Post as well. Check it out.
- Only 12 Best Buy stores will be having a midnight sale. Is yours one of them?
- How many of each type of unit is your Best Buy getting? Look up your Store Number ...
- ... then check it out on this list.
- All Xbox games on the compatability list will be scaled up to 720p, and anti-aliased. Are your Xbox games playable on Xbox 360?
- How did they get Xbox games running on 360? Todd Holmdahl spills the beans ...
- What Xbox 360 games will be out in time for Launch Day? And remember the pricing, first-party titles are $49.99, all others are $59.99
- Want to see how Best Buy is configuring the store to better
rapeserve you? Remember, just say no! - Did you think that a hard drive and wireless controller were all that were in the $399 package? Think again! You get a headset, component cable, ethernet cable, and even a special "Chrome Finish" on the drive door! Only suckers buy the "Core System".
- Speaking of Accessories, check out all the stuff Best Buy will have. There are a few good deals and cool accessories on the list, like the Intec AV Selector and the Pelican S-AV Cable (half the price of the Microsoft cable).
- Looking to buy a new HDTV for that new Xbox? HDBeat has some pointers for you. My perosnal pick? If you're planning ahead for the PlayStation 3, which can output to 1080p, give the Westinghouse LVM-37W1 a serious look.
- What else can you buy for Xbox 360? How about ... Microsoft Points? No, that's not a new game, but a new form of micropayments for the Xbox Marketplace. You can get 1600 points for $19.99 (20 points for a quarter). Then, you can buy over 400 different pieces of downloadable content in the Xbox Live Marketplace. Prices range from 20 points for a gamer picture to 150 points for a "theme".
- Finally, don't forget your coupons!
