Next Generation - Sony Waits on PS3 Price

Sony is saying that they aren't going to announce the price of the PS3 until close to the launch.

So riddle me this ... if the PS3 is supposed to be the kind of device that you need to save up for (paraphrasing earlier Sony comments), how are we supposed to start saving our money when we don't know how much it's going to cost?

Seriously, pull your heads out. We already know it's going to be expensive, so you might as well tell us HOW expensive so we can mortgage our children now, rather than later.
