A new kind of TiVo ...
Anyone that knows me knows what a huge advocate of PVR technology I am, especially TiVo. But I have to admit, that I think I've taken my fondness for skipping content a little too far.
I'm skipping entire programs, sometimes entire seasons of shows.
I'm not sure why I started doing this, but I find myself setting a show to record whenever it's new (what TiVo calls a "season pass"), but I sometimes only watch one or two episodes. I still let the programs record, and if someone asks me if I'm watching the show, I say "Yeah, I usually TiVo it", but I'm not actually watching the show. Joey is a prime example. Checked out an episode or two, didn't care for it, but never deleted the season pass. ER is another one, they jumped the shark years ago, but I still keep recording it. I'll probably watch last week's episode, but then again, maybe I won't.
I wonder if there are other people out there, claiming to watch shows by virtue of PVR that aren't actually watching the shows? I'd like to think that I'm doing it because I've been far to busy to watch all of the TV I'm recording, but somehow, I think a little bit of laziness is coming into play as well.
