Picasa: Automated Digital Photo Organizer software

I trust the folks at Google so much that anything they come up with, I'll give a try sight unseen. Some of it I've liked, some of it I didn't quite care for. Just not my cup of tea, so to speak.

Google recently acquired Picasa, a program that organizes your digital photos, and lets you edit, print, make slideshows ... pretty much exactly what every other program out there will do with your photos. So I was pretty skeptical, but loaded it up and gave it a shot. It's pretty ordinary in what it does, but the user interface is fantastic. Truly the best I've seen in a photo app in a long time. The scroll bar isn't really a scroll bar, it's got this slider that is pressure sensitive, that you grab and move up or down to sort of glide through your photos. It's just plain polished all over. My only complaint is that it took me longer than I expected to delete a batch of photos entirely, which is probably a good thing for most people, but sure enough, it was there in a very logical place. The Delete button. :)

Give Picasa a shot. You might like it!
